Calvary Church will provide back-to-school supplies on Sunday

STEUBENVILLE — The Calvary Community Missionary Baptist Church, located at 511 Woodlawn Road, Steubenville, will hold its back-to-school supply distribution for all students in the community on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. or while supplies last.

Parents must accompany students during distribution.

Sunday, during the 11 a.m. service, will include the Sonya and Jeremy McLoyd Scholarship Award.

Meeting of all schools on Saturday

WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville High School All-School Reunion, traditionally held on the third Saturday in August, is scheduled for Saturday noon at Aladdin Land, located at 6355 Township Road 166, Bloomingdale’s.

Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish to share. Table service, soft drinks and bottled water will be provided. Donations will be accepted, according to organizer Toni Jean Dondzila.

Church recruits attendees for Junk in the Trunk sale

STEUBENVILLE — St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, located at 284 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, will be hosting a Junk in the Trunk sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside in the parking lot behind the church.

Participants are invited to rent a parking spot at a cost of $20. They must bring their own table.

Interested persons should call (740) 264-5005 and leave a message. There will be no sanitary facilities for the event. The rainy date is August 27.

Brooke County Hook Club

WELLSBURG – The Brooke County Crochet Club will meet Saturday at noon.

The group is aimed at adults, from beginners to experts. Participants should bring their own supplies and projects. For those who require assistance, someone will be available to offer assistance or instructions.

STEUBENVILLE — The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will host a low-cost, traveling animal neuter clinic at Steubenville American Legion Post 33 at 805 N. Fifth St. Oct. 1-2.

All interested pet owners can schedule an appointment by calling (304) 374-4443. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Appointments are not limited to Brooke County residents.

Grace’s Cupboard Food Pantry holding distribution on Thursday

STEUBENVILLE — The Grace’s Cupboard Pantry will take place Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The pantry is at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Questions can be directed to (740) 282-9064.

First Responder Appreciation Golf Outing takes place in Weirton

WEIRTON – Law enforcement officers, firefighters and other first responders from Weirton and Hancock and Brooke counties participated in a golf course recently held at Williams Golf and Country Club.

Ten foursomes participated in the event, sponsored by the Williams Golf and Country Club and owner JC Markovitz in appreciation of the service and sacrifices of area first responders. First responders received free green fees and cold drinks. The Town of Weirton and Domino’s Pizza has pizza for every golfer.

Nearly $900 was collected from first responders and donated to the City of Weirton Emergency Services.

First responders expressed their gratitude to Markovitz and the golf staff of the Williams Golf and Country Club, including golf professionals Brian Grogan and Eric DiGori for their assistance as well as event organizers Reese Thompson and Tony Apesos of the Weirton Police Department and local attorneys Vincent Gurrera and Dan McCune.
