ASHTABULA – Starting October 4, area residents can sign up for the annual HALO (Holiday Angels Loving Others) Christmas program.
HALO is a special awareness program coordinated by Catholic Charities in Ashtabula County and is designed to help people and families in need with food and toys during the holiday season.
Eligibility for the HALO program is based on income status and need. Individuals and families who fall 133 percent or below federal poverty guidelines may be eligible for assistance.
HALO support requests will be processed between October 4 and November 19 at various sites across the county. The deadline of November 19 will be applied and no extension will be granted.
There are several ways to help HALO:
• Adopt a Family – Adoption opportunities are available to organizations and individuals who wish to provide direct assistance to individuals or families.
• HALO toy box – Thanks to this project, there will be no direct contact established with families. Instead, one person or organization will provide two toys for each of five different age groups for infants through teens.
• Donate – Send tax-deductible cash donations to HALO of Ashtabula County, 4200 Park Ave., Third Floor, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
• Volunteer – Assists in collecting requests, entering data, transporting goods and distributing services. Adult and student volunteers are welcome.
