local jeweler donates to the Cheer Club | News, Sports, Jobs

Neil Jandron of Jandron’s Fine Jewelry presents two checks to Ann Troutman, editor of the Mining Journal. One check is made out to Jandron’s Fine Jewelry, and the other is a personal check from Jandron himself. Jandron, a member of the Marquette County Salvation Army Advisory Council, has long supported the Cheer Club. “The Cheer Club is a wonderful thing the Mining Journal does. So many children would be without it if this event did not take place. Seeing how grateful families are in distribution centers almost makes you cry, ”Jandron said. The Cheer Club, which kicked off Friday, collects toys and unwrapped gifts to give to children and families in need during the holiday season. Gifts are distributed to local families through St. Vincent de Paul and the Marquette County Salvation Army. Gifts can be dropped off at: The Mining Journal office in downtown Marquette; Saint Vincent de Paul in Marquette; Range Bank locations in Marquette, Harvey and Negaunee; Salvation Army locations in Ishpeming and Marquette; and Ace Hardware in Gwinn. For those who wish to donate to the Mining Journal office, a donation box is located in the lobby of the office along West Washington Street. Journal staff members are available to take photos of Cheer Club donors who drop off items at the Mining Journal office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
